If you’re anything like me, you probably have dozens of products on your Shopify store that are virtually identical. Maybe you’ve got a few product templates that you use for all your products, but most of your products are customized to fit your specific needs.
That’s where custom Fields come in! In this article, we’ll show you how to create custom Fields in your Product Template so that you can customize each product uniquely.
First, open up the Product Template that you want to customize and click on the “Fields” tab at the top. This will open up a list of all the Fields in the template:
Click on the “Add New Field” button and enter the following information into the “Field Name” field:
You’ll now need to decide what type of data this Field will contain. For our example, we’re going to use a “Custom Field Type”. Select “Custom Field Type” from the drop-down menu and then select “Text Field”:
Now enter the following information into the “Field Description” field:
Finally, click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save your changes to the template! Now when you create a new product in your store, simply enter its unique identifier (e.g. 1234) into this newly created Custom Field and Shopify will take care of automatically setting up all of its related Fields for you!
How to create Custom Images for your Product
