Embedding a video
Videos are an engaging way to engage visitors and attract new ones, but adding one properly requires knowing the ins-and-outs of how best to add one. There are several methods of doing this including uploading direct and using URL/embed code – this guide will walk through them all so you can see their benefits/cons.
An effective way of adding videos to your Squarespace website is using a gallery block. Simply navigate to the page or post where you wish to add videos and select an insert point; click Gallery Block then Layout; once selected enter video URL into Video Block then Save
Add videos to any webpage or post by using either a text block or code block, with each method offering unique advantages: text blocks use HTML editing while code blocks can accept various programming languages; only HTML would work in a text block while visual editors might accept various other languages as input.
Use YouTube or Vimeo embed codes as another method for adding videos to Squarespace sites, especially if the video already resides elsewhere on the Internet. If your iframe isn’t loading as intended, it may be because it’s being pulled from an untrustworthy source. This is often due to large websites like Google or Facebook attempting to prevent clickjacking – which involves tricking people into clicking a page which looks different than expected – by blocking iframes as part of their efforts against fraudsters attempting to lure users in by manipulating content that appears different than expected.
To solve this, change the address in your iframe to an SSL-secured URL – similar to how Google ReCAPTCHA works for forms. Although ReCAPTCHA may not prevent spam submissions entirely, it can significantly decrease them.
If you’re using the free version of Google Forms, embedded forms may take some time to load when embedded on a Squarespace website as this version only supports HTTP pages while Squarespace requires HTTPS pages.
Once you’ve added an iframe to your Squarespace site, adding the Bookwhen schedule to any public page is simple. Simply visit that public page and click ‘Page setup’ in the top right-hand corner to generate HTML codes for buttons links, standard links and embedded iframes; copy and paste one into your website page layout before adjusting its size as necessary.
