Shopify Contact Form Challenge
To reduce spam from contact forms, the challenge page is created. If a bot/human test is required, it will redirect the user directly to the captcha (challenge), page. This new Shopify feature helps prevent spam signups from various forms on your website such as the contact form and the “back in stock” notification forms.
These pages will only be displayed if a user submits a form more times than once within a 24-hour period. However, it could also be shown in other situations.
This page’s design cannot be modified at this time. Shopify does not have a setting to turn off this confirmation page. However, you can look at the elements and attempt to override their CSS if necessary.
How to Remove the Challenge in Shopify Contact Form
If you’re using the default Shopify contact form, you may have noticed the “Challenge” field. This is a security measure to help prevent spam submissions, but it can be frustrating for legitimate users who just want to get in touch.
Thankfully, there’s a way to remove the challenge from your contact form. Just follow these simple steps:
1. Log into your Shopify account and go to the Online Store > Preferences page.
2. Scroll down to the “Forms” section and click on the “Contact” link.
3. Under the “General Settings” heading, look for the “Captcha” setting and toggle it off.
4. Save your changes and that’s it! The challenge should now be gone from your contact form.
Keep in mind that this will make your contact form slightly less secure, so you may want to consider other anti-spam measures such as a honeypot field or CAPTCHA on your forms if you’re receiving a lot of spam submissions.
Pros and Cons of Removing the Challenge
Shopify contact forms are a great way to gather customer information and feedback, but they can also be a source of frustration for customers. One of the key features of a Shopify contact form is the challenge, which is designed to reduce spam submissions. However, some customers find the challenge to be annoying and may avoid filling out the form altogether if they are not sure how to answer it.
There are pros and cons to removing the challenge from your Shopify contact form. On the plus side, doing so may encourage more customers to fill out the form and provide valuable feedback. On the downside, you may see an increase in spam submissions. Ultimately, whether or not you remove the challenge from your Shopify contact form is up to you and will depend on your specific needs and goals.
