Before you place an order, add a tracking number
You can use the tracking number to add it during fulfillment if you already have the number. This number is provided in the shipping confirmation email sent to the customer.
Steps:
- Go to Orders from your Shopify admin.
- Click on the Orders Page to select an order number with a fulfillment status of Partially Fulfilled or Unfulfilled.
- To open the Fulfillment webpage, go to the Unfulfilled Section and click Mark as fulfilled.
- Enter your shipment’s Tracking Number in the Tracking Information section.
- Shopify may recognize your tracking number format and select a shipping carrier to ship your order. If Shopify doesn’t recognize the tracking number format, or chooses incorrectly for you, then select your shipping carrier from Shipping carrier drop down menu.
- Shopify may not be able to support your carrier. This tracking number will be displayed on your order status page. To track your shipment, you will need to enter the URL (including any digits) provided by your carrier.
- Click Fill items.
After you have fulfilled an order, add a tracking number
After fulfilling an order, you will receive a tracking number. You can then add that number to your fulfillment. The tracking number can be sent to the customer via a shipping notification email.
Steps:
- Go to Orders from your Shopify admin.
- Click on the order number of the order to which you wish to add a tracking code.
- Click Add tracking in the Fulfilled Section.
- Enter your tracking number in the Edit tracking dialog.
- Shopify may recognize your tracking number format and select a shipping carrier to ship your order. If Shopify doesn’t recognize the tracking number format, or chooses an incorrect shipping carrier, you can choose your shipping carrier using the Carrier dropdown menu.
- Shopify doesn’t support all carriers. You can manually enter the tracking URL if the Other drop-down menu selects Carrier. To link to the carrier’s tracking pages, the URL is required on the order status page. To track your shipment, you must enter the URL including the digits.
- Optional: You can choose not to send a shipping update. To do this, uncheck Send notification emails to customer.
- Click Save.

ACTIVATE THE AUTOMATIC ORDER ADD-ON
To enable automatic order processing for your subscription plan, click on Settings – Plans & Addons.
FORWARD TRACKING EMAILS TO UNIQUE TRACKING EMAIL
After you have set up order automation, the last step is to forward tracking emails to the unique tracking email address provided under the Settings – Store Settings – Orders tab. You are now ready for automatic tracking updates
UPDATE YOUR ORDER ID (OPTIONAL).
Update your order ID if your order was manually processed. AutoDS will contact you with order tracking information.
VIEW YOUR AUTOMATIC TRACKING NUMBER UPDATES
You can go to your orders page and see how automated orders (lightning icons) change their status based on their current status. The tracking number will be updated once the shipment is complete.
