Wix and GoDaddy are two of the most well-known web hosting and website-building companies in the market. But which is the superior option? This Wix vs. GoDaddy comparison aims to provide an answer to that question.

But first and foremost, the stage must be prepared. Both promises to offer low-cost, quick, and simple website-building alternatives that require no technical knowledge. So, let’s have a look at who these businesses are…

Who’s Wix?

Wix is a website builder (see our review of Wix Website Builder) that places a strong emphasis on user-friendly creativity and customization. Its drag-and-drop editor is highly user-friendly. With hundreds of free customizable templates to pick from, Wix has everything a small business needs to create a professional-looking website.

Wix, founded in 2006, has a lot of expertise providing top-notch support to website owners. Wix is trusted by over 200 million people in 190 countries in today’s world. Isn’t it impressive?

Who’s GoDaddy?

On the other hand, GoDaddy is essentially a web domain name registrar with a website builder as an add-on option. GoDaddy’s GoCentral eCommerce service, a hybrid website builder and online shopping cart host was launched in 2014.

GoDaddy’s website-building capabilities (including its Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI)) are user-friendly, similar to Wix’s.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Ease of Use

Ease of use is essential to many individuals, including yourself. Take a look at how Wix and GoDaddy stack up:

GoDaddy

If you want speedy results, the GoDaddy website builder might be the way to go. Users report that GoDaddy’s website builder is simple to use, making it simple to get up and running quickly. This could be because GoDaddy has fewer tools and design flexibility than Wix.

GoDaddy uses ADI to create a personalized website for you quickly. You only have to provide them with a few details, and they’ll take care of the rest!

When it comes to altering the appearance of your GoDaddy site, though, things get a little more complicated. GoDaddy is significantly more restrictive regarding changing, making it challenging to adjust individual website parts.

Wix

Wix, on the other hand, is exceedingly simple to use. Unlike GoDaddy, however, this does not come at the expense of creative flexibility.

You have two options when it comes to website design:

  • Wix ADI
  • Wix Editor X

Wix ADI, like GoDaddy, asks you a few questions and then creates a site for you based on your answers. You can then make changes to the final website design.

On the other hand, Editor X is known for its drag-and-drop functionality. This product does exactly what it says on the tin. You can start with whatever template you like. Simply click on the website elements you want to utilize, drag them into place, and drop them into place. Isn’t it simple?

Because of the multiple capabilities offered, it may take a bit longer to get live than GoDaddy, as we’ve already mentioned. On the other hand, Wix is not difficult to use for beginners.

The Winner: Wix

It’s challenging to select between the two platforms because they are incredibly user-friendly. Wix’s website editor is more user-friendly than GoDaddy’s, and it has more functionality. Wix, though, comes out on top in the end.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Pricing Plans

The segment you’ve all been waiting for: Wix vs. GoDaddy: Which Provides the Best Value for Money?

Wix

GoDaddy does not have a free plan, whereas Wix does. You may develop, create, and publish your website for free on this site. You’ll have to live with Wix’s subdomain and branding on your site, of course. As a result, this is ineffective for high-quality websites. Nonetheless, it’s an excellent chance to try out the platform and see whether you like what Wix has to offer.

If the freemium edition of Wix isn’t enough for you, there are seven paying options to pick from. These costs range from $14 to $49 per month. Only the three top levels allow for online selling, so keep that in mind. This removes Wix’s branding and allows you to use a custom domain with at least 1 GB of bandwidth.

GoDaddy

GoDaddy offers a free month-long trial before you commit to a premium service. Four paid packages are available, ranging from $9.99 to $24.99 per month, invoiced annually.

Their Basic plan is suitable for those who want to establish a simple, personal website. Consider GoDaddy’s Standard or Premium plans if you plan to expand your business. No matter the package you choose, you’ll get GoDaddy Insight, which gives you tips on boosting your internet presence.

Winner: Wix

In terms of price, Wix comes out on top. Even though GoDaddy offers more affordable options, Wix provides more value for your money in terms of features. They also provide a complimentary bundle that lasts indefinitely.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Design and Customization Options

We touched on the design before, but it’s so crucial that we’re delving further and dedicated a whole section to it:

This is our own Service Offered by the Blog Author.

Wix

Wix has a whopping 500+ templates to select from – but don’t be intimidated; they’re sorted into easy-to-navigate categories to help you locate the right one.

The following are some of the Wix website template categories:

  • Business
  • Photography
  • Music
  • Online store
  • Restaurants…

There’s also a blank page option if you want to start from scratch with your website design.

You can play around with these templates and evaluate them using Wix’s drag and drop editor before deciding which one to use for your website.

Unfortunately, after your website has been published, you will not be able to change templates. You’ll have to re-add all of your stuff and start again if you do. So, pick your template wisely!

You also gain access to Unsplash and Shutterstock’s excellent selection of stock pictures (over 1,000). Some of these are of excellent quality, so take a look!

Wix’s Editor X

Wix’s Editor X was released in February 2020. (read our full review here). Even though it is still in development, this feature has received much attention. Editor X retains Wix’s drag-and-drop interface, as well as a slew of responsive design tools, such as:

  • Text Scale: You may make scalable font sizes.
  • Grid Layouting: A CSS-based system that enables you to anchor elements as the user’s viewpoint changes. You can also resize and stack media for a more responsive, seamless design.
  • Flex layout: This automatically reconfigures content.
  • Custom breakpoints: With custom breakpoints, you can adapt designs to any viewpoint, regardless of the device.

The best part is using these advanced web design capabilities without learning

CSS code. As a result, you don’t need to be a tech whiz to produce designer-level websites.

Here are the pros and cons of Editor X, so you can see clearly whether it offers what you need:

Pros

  • It’s simple to make designs that are attractive to the eye.
  • Extremely adaptable
  • Completely adaptable
  • You can immediately see how your designs and layouts look on different devices.

Cons

  • Because it’s still in beta, there may be a few problems or bugs to work out.
  • It is only compatible with the English language.
  • It’s more suited for the expert user than Wix’s regular editor.
  • There are fewer templates than in Wix’s standard editor.

Please keep in mind that while Editor X is a Wix.com product, it is fundamentally a different website builder. You must go to editorx.com and join up there to use Editor X instead of Wix’s standard UI. . We’ll concentrate on Wix’s standard editor in this evaluation.

Wix Velo

Wix Velo may come in helpful if you know your way around a web development environment. This is a full-stack development platform for creating and deploying professional online applications. In a zero-setup scenario, you get access to Wix’s API. Velo also includes a visual user interface editor and development tools to help you save time when coding and creating.

Again, this is an excellent Wix add-on product to be aware of. Nonetheless, getting the most out of Wix’s user-friendly website builder isn’t required.

GoDaddy

GoDaddy, as previously stated, employs an ADI. Don’t worry if this sounds complicated. This simply means that GoDaddy creates your website based on your responses to a series of questions. For example, whether you want to incorporate social media, the objective of your website, whether you already have one, and so on.

This isn’t as miraculous as it may appear at first. By providing these details, GoDaddy will select the best template for you. They then add the minimal necessities. You’ll still need to add content and modify the look of your site!

Instead of using GoDaddy’s ADI builder, you may work from one of GoDaddy’s hundreds of industry-specific templates, just like Wix.

These filters are also included with GoDaddy. These allow you to quickly switch between over 20 distinct layouts, fonts, and color schemes for a theme.

You may alter your chosen template using a simple drag-and-drop editor, just like Wix. With GoDaddy’s mobile app, you can also change your web designs while on the road.

It’s also worth mentioning that you have access to the following web-design features at this point:

  • Promotional banners
  • Drop-down menus
  • Backups
  • Calls to action
  • Contact forms
  • Keep all of your photographs in one place, even if you’re managing numerous sites, with a centralized image library.

GoDaddy plans to add password-protected Members-Only pages to their mix of features in the future. Wix already has this capability.

The Over App

GoDaddy has purchased a content production app called Over. This tool is part of GoDaddy’s website builder and allows you to publish material for various web channels. Over is simple to install on your smartphone and begin editing content from there. This is a valuable tool for social media content layout.

The Winner: Wix

Wix is the clear victor when it comes to design. However, several of GoDaddy’s design elements, such as its theme filters, are particularly appealing to us. Wix, on the other hand, has a lot more to offer. They have a more extensive selection of templates, a more user-friendly drag-and-drop editor, ADI, and greater creative power.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Ecommerce Functionality

Even though neither Wix nor GoDaddy was created with eCommerce in mind, both systems allow you to sell real and digital goods through a simple online store.

You can take numerous currencies, process client payments using PayPal, Square, Apple Pay, and Stripe, and administer your business from your mobile app.

Wix, in particular, allows you to:

  • Activate campaigns to recover abandoned carts.
  • Subscriptions should be sold.
  • Calculate sales tax automatically
  • Sell via social media and online markets.
  • Showcase an unlimited number of products
  • Showcase and sell as many things as you like.
  • Product sourcing and dropshipping
  • Create a multilingual storefront.

GoDaddy, on the other hand, allows you to:

  • Up to 5,000 products can be published, with a maximum of 20 product photos per item.
  • On your Facebook profile, you can sell things.
  • With GoDaddy’s mobile-optimized checkouts and adaptable storefronts, you can quickly sell on the go.
  • Allow customers to schedule appointments with you and pay for services.
  • Create exclusive offers and discounts.

The Winner: Wix

Wix has a few more eCommerce options in general. Most importantly, it does not impose any restrictions on the number of items you can sell. Wix offers a broader range of eCommerce plans to meet your specific demands, whereas GoDaddy’s single eCommerce plan isn’t clearly defined.

If you wish to scale your shop to a substantial size, we recommend looking at different online store systems. Wix and GoDaddy don’t have a lot of advanced store administration capabilities. Platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce may be better suited to your needs if eCommerce is your primary focus.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Blogging

Customers get a glimpse of your company’s side when you have a blog on your website. Both platforms have many options when it comes to blogging, but Wix has a lot more. You can, for example:

  • Social bookmark
  • Sort your blog content into categories.
  • Analyze the performance of your posts with analytics.
  • Include elements such as a search bar.

GoDaddy’s blogging platform is also imposing. It also includes analytics and the ability to divide content into categories. You can also establish an RSS feed for readers to subscribe to and stay updated on your new content.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Email Marketing

Now let’s look at what both systems have to offer in terms of email marketing:

GoDaddy

GoDaddy’s email marketing skills are limited. You can send up to 100 emails every month on the cheapest plan, with the most expensive subscription allowing you to send up to 25,000.

GoDaddy sells a premium add-on that expands on these functions and adds to their free email marketing service. This, of course, comes at an extra cost. There are three plans to choose from, with the first one starting at $9.99 per month. This add-on service contains the following:

  • Custom reports
  • Email editor with drag-and-drop functionality
  • Access to a stock image collection
  • Access to professional, mobile-friendly templates
  • Unsubscribes are handled automatically by GoDaddy.
  • Converting blogs to emails is simple.
  • GoDaddy’s email marketing system is compatible with Facebook, Etsy, and other platforms.
  • Your email campaigns can be automated.

It’s worth noting that GoDaddy’s basic email marketing plan has a limit of 500 subscribers, and even its most costly plan ($29.99 a month) has a limit of 5,000. GoDaddy won’t scale with you if your list expands above these limits; as a result, you’ll need to find a new email marketing supplier.

Wix

Wix offers an increasing number of email templates to construct professional and seamless email designs. The following features are included in their email marketing functionality:

  • Email editor: A simple email builder that allows you to start from scratch or change one of Wix’s email templates by changing backgrounds, colors, and fonts. You can also use movies as part of your email content.
  • Automate and personalize email messages with the recipient’s name using email automation.
  • Use Wix’s real-time statistics to track the success of your email campaigns and use the information to enhance future campaigns.

G Suite also allows you to create a custom email address for your domain. You can send up to 5,000 unique emails each month through three campaigns or mailings.

To get the most out of your Wix email marketing, you’ll need to upgrade to the Wix Ascend plan. This is Wix’s business solution, which includes extra marketing capabilities. For example, you can use automation rules to automate email workflows and social marketing. Lead capture forms planned chat hours, and expanded email marketing functionality are just a few examples.

Winner: GoDaddy

Neither GoDaddy nor Wix, like most other online store builders, prioritize email marketing as a primary component. As a result, if you’re serious about email marketing, we recommend looking for a more complex email marketing solution.

However, if your company is still tiny, GoDaddy and Wix may be sufficient for your email marketing needs.

Wix gives you 5,000 free emails per month no matter the plan you choose. On the other hand, GoDaddy offers a limited number of sends at first. Even yet, on more expensive subscriptions, you can get up to 25,000 emails each month. Wix’s free email marketing tools are still somewhat limited, allowing you to send only three messages per month.

Overall, though, both offer adequate, albeit rudimentary, email marketing skills.

Even still, you’ll need to upgrade if you want to use full-featured email marketing.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Social Media Integrations

Wix has a big social media following. Social Media Stream is a widget that connects all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, and Tumblr. All of them can be linked through a single widget on your website and displayed utilizing ‘follow’ buttons, image galleries, and live feeds.

GoDaddy connects to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, although on a far more fundamental level. The Over app can be used to format social networking posts. Even yet, we wouldn’t call this a GoDaddy-exclusive feature because it’s available for anybody to download on the app store.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Analytics

Any serious website owner will keep an eye on their site’s performance. This is when web analytics comes in handy. Let’s take a look at how GoDaddy and Wix stack up:

GoDaddy

Your best bet with GoDaddy might be to use Google Analytics. They do, however, have an ‘InSight’ tool that analyses your marketing efforts and makes data-driven recommendations for enhancing outreach, primarily through social media and email campaigns.

Wix

You have the option of using Google Analytics or adding Wix’s free Visitor Analytics widget to your site with Wix. You can see where your visitors came from, the sites they visited, and when they visited.

Winner: GoDaddy

We’re giving GoDaddy a slight advantage because of its more native setup. You get more detailed website analytics when you link Wix and GoDaddy with technologies like Google Data. You can add the Visitor Analytics widget to your Wix site for free. GoDaddy’s InSights product, on the other hand, is bundled with its websites and marketing tools.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Search Engine Optimization

Your website’s SEO strength will determine your ranking in search engine results. This has a significant impact on the amount of organic traffic you’ll receive. So, let’s have a look at what Wix and GoDaddy have to offer in terms of SEO tools:

Wix

Wix stresses the fact that you have complete control over your SEO. Meta descriptions, URL slugs, meta titles, and header code can all be edited. If this seems daunting, don’t fret; plenty of apps help you out. For example, SiteBooster’s SEO Wiz monitors your SEO performance and provides keyword suggestions.

GoDaddy

You have the same level of control over your meta descriptions, URL slugs, meta titles, and header codes with GoDaddy. You also get SEO tracking and keyword suggestions built-in. You can’t use third-party SEO plugins because they don’t have an app store like Wix.

They also make a sitemap and submit it to the search engines. This is essentially a plan for your website. It aids search engines in discovering, crawling, and indexing all of your website’s information.

Winner: GoDaddy

GoDaddy has a tiny advantage in terms of SEO. It was difficult to choose between them because they provide reasonably comparable services while still giving distinct and essential features. However, GoDaddy’s sitemap functionality ultimately won them the competition.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Customer Service

The importance of excellent customer service cannot be overstated. When you run into an issue or have a query, your website builder should be available to help you. So, let’s see how Wix and GoDaddy stack up:

Wix

Wix provides English and Spanish-speaking customers with phone service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This phone service is accessible during the day for most other languages.

There’s also a helpful forum where you may ask and search for questions already been addressed. This is a great area to meet other Wix users and exchange tips and tricks.

On the other hand, Wix’s online assistance center is where they shine. You can search for a problem or a query here, and you’ll almost certainly discover helpful tutorials to assist you.

Wix also offers a built-in help system. Let’s say you’re modifying your website and you run across a problem. In that situation, you can find the solution by clicking the question mark bubble without leaving your editing page. It’s pretty beneficial!

GoDaddy

GoDaddy’s live chat service is excellent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Wix has yet to deliver this service to its users. Customers who can’t call and don’t want to wade through pages looking for an answer will find live chat essential. GoDaddy, like Wix, provides phone service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Winner: It’s a Tie!

It’s a stalemate! Both give exceptional customer service, and one offers something the other does not, which could tilt the scales in their favor. Most importantly, both companies provide phone help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Wix vs. GoDaddy: Which is The Better Website Builder?

Personal users, small to medium-sized enterprises, and modest online storefronts are all targets for Wix and GoDaddy.

That being stated, Wix is our winner (stop for dramatic effect)!

Even though both platforms have superb website-building features, Wix is the superior platform due to its more comprehensive range of highly polished features. Wix has it all: quick customization, a user-friendly interface, and various products that appeal to customers of all skill levels. Furthermore, they provide a free forever plan, which GoDaddy does not.

Do you have any prior experience with GoDaddy or Wix? Or are you thinking of Weebly, Squarespace, or WordPress, which are some of their competitors? In any case, we’d love to hear about it in the comments section below — get in touch soon!
